About

Skokie Heritage Museum works with the Skokie Park District to provide a variety of programs at the museum to showcase the versatility of the space. The main building of the museum is a firehouse from 1887, that served as an early public building for a variety of uses throughout its history, before becoming the museum in 1992. In addition to this, the property hosts a log cabin from 1847 that was home to an early family to what became Skokie.

The museum hosts a permanent exhibit showcasing fire history, including fire equipment from the late 1800-s, and has a second exhibit space that rotates temporary exhibits a few times a year. This digital exhibit space provides an additional outlook for displaying a greater amount of the physical collection.
