When did the Edens Highway open?

Edens Expressway, running north from Chicago through Skokie, opened on December 20, 1951. Transportation advancements like this and the Skokie Swift “L” Service made Skokie more accessible to residents of Chicago and other northern suburbs, and made it easier for current and new residents of Skokie to live in Skokie and work elsewhere.
