While some families related to the original settlers and many Jewish families still call Skokie home, many new cultural groups started arriving in Skokie in the 1980s and 1990s. Events like Skokie’s Festival of Cultures and Coming Together in Skokie and Niles Township are a celebration of Skokie’s diversity.

According to the United States Census:

As of July 1, 2019, Skokie’s population was estimated to be 62,700 and the cultural make-up was 57.1% White, 27.5% Asian, 11.5 % Hispanic or Latino, 8 % Black or African American and 5.1% Multi-racial.  And, of these Skokie residents 40.4% were foreign-born between 2015-2019.

According to the Institute of Museum and Library Services in 2008, nearly 90 different languages are spoken throughout the community.
